RenderThis project demonstrates how intelligent engineering can reduce manufacturing costs while expanding a product portfolio. The customer already owned an existing air cooler water tank mould and wanted to launch new products without replacing their entire tooling investment.
Instead of designing a completely new cooler, the engineering strategy focused on preserving the existing lower tank architecture while developing three entirely new upper cabinet designs. This platform-based approach enabled multiple visually distinct products to be created using the same manufacturing foundation.
Each upper cabinet was independently engineered for plastic injection mould manufacturing using Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles. The designs introduced fresh styling, updated front fascia concepts, new control layouts, and different visual identities while maintaining compatibility with the original tank mould.
The result was a cost-effective modular air cooler platform that significantly reduced tooling investment, shortened product development time, and allowed the manufacturer to introduce multiple new products using an already proven production platform. This project highlights the value of engineering-led product development where manufacturing efficiency and commercial practicality are considered alongside industrial design.
Send us your concept or sketch. We'll tell you exactly what it takes to get it from design to a mould that ships.
