RenderThis project involved the complete industrial design and mechanical engineering of a non-electric household water purifier intended to deliver safe drinking water through gravity-fed filtration. The design eliminates the need for electrical power, making it suitable for residential kitchens, offices, rural environments, emergency situations, and areas where uninterrupted electricity cannot be guaranteed.
A transparent dual-chamber architecture was developed to improve both functionality and user experience. The upper chamber stores untreated water while allowing users to visually monitor filtration progress, cartridge condition, and water level. Purified water is collected in the lower chamber and dispensed through an ergonomically positioned tap designed for convenient everyday use.
The enclosure and internal component layout were engineered using Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles for injection moulded plastic production. Careful attention was given to wall thickness consistency, structural rigidity, draft angles, assembly methods, tooling feasibility, and efficient internal packaging. The result is a manufacturing-ready consumer product that combines attractive industrial styling with practical engineering suitable for high-volume production.
Send us your concept or sketch. We'll tell you exactly what it takes to get it from design to a mould that ships.
